Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his new home state inspired many visitors to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver was by far one of the top performers who embodies Colorado. In 2011, Denver was named the Hall of Fame's first inductee. He is now Colorado's international image. When I travel, I always encounter someone on the other side of the world or someone who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the very first thing that comes out of their mouth is"Oh John Denver! Brown clarified. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's top 10 hit following a performance with a small folk music bands. The song was written and produced by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver saw an early rendition he knew right away it was destined to be an instant hit. Danoff recorded the song just a few days following playing at Washington D.C. before an crowd that was extremely enthusiastic.
